Turkmen Vice Premier Meets with Tatarstan Head Rustam Minnikhanov

Tatarstan’s Head, Rustam Minnikhanov, held a meeting on Thursday with Turkmenistan’s Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Nokerguly Atagulyyev, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), according to the Tatarstan press service.

During the talks, Minnikhanov expressed gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, for his consistent support of interregional cooperation within the framework of Russia–Turkmenistan relations.

Minnikhanov noted that the two republics are bound by long-standing historical and cultural ties, as well as stable trade and economic relations. He highlighted the successful operations of leading Tatarstan enterprises in the Turkmen market, including KAMAZ, Kazan Helicopter Plant, Zelenodolsk Shipyard, KER-Holding, and Eidos.

Turkmenistan’s Deputy Chairman of Cabinet of Ministeers Nokerguly Atagulyyev met Thursday with the Head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, on the sidelines of the 28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which runs from June 18–21.

Minnikhanov reported that trade turnover between Tatarstan and Turkmenistan exceeded $39 million in 2024. He stressed the need to add greater momentum to economic cooperation, noting strong potential in oil exploration, gas transportation, automotive, aviation and shipbuilding, as well as chemical product supply.

“There is considerable potential to further develop our economic ties,” Minnikhanov said.

The two sides also focused on strengthening humanitarian cooperation. Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized opportunities for expanding partnerships in science, education, and culture.
